 The test result data is stored on a hard disk for statistical purposes and can be view and analyzed via MS Excel. The SST-160 tests the solenoid by applying real load or simulating extreme situations. The force created by the Pull-In and Hold-In coils can be measured at programmable plunger positions and voltages. During the test the machine measures the Hold-In and Pull-In coil current and resistance, the contact voltage drop and the magnetic balance of the coils is also measured.

Features

A special self adjusting fixture allows the tester to test very accurately and with high repeatability all mechanical parameters of the solenoid. An extremely precise positioning system makes it possible to measure solenoid performance at programmable plunger positions. Burn Off Reserve (BOR) of the solenoid (over traveling) is measured and allows the tester to reject solenoids that have a defect that would cause the unit to wear out at an accelerated rate. Measuring BOR will yield a significant reduction in starters that fail the in of line test and warranty returns. Assembly errors or bad mechanical components such as weak springs or imbalanced coils which can cause catastrophic failures are easily detected. If a parameter is out of the specs the part fails the test and the parameter is highlighted in the test result display. The system software is optimized for easy and reliable operation; only very basic PC skills are required for operation. The test specifications are very easy to create and an unlimited number of test specifications can be stored in to the tester's memory. There is a special mode for research and testing of the magnetic properties of the steel. The tester is ISO QS ready with a built in self-calibration program. Report print out includes plot of plunger force vs. position, voltage drop and spring tension
